DIY Essential Oil Reed Diffusers + Recipes!

Diffusing essential oils are a great way to freshen up the air without emitting toxins that are harmful for your health. But, at the same time, you are getting the amazing therapeutic benefits from the oils!

However, sometimes we are not able to always have a misting diffuser available to use so I love to make reed diffusers! Reed diffusers are perfect for the bathroom, your desk at the office, or even just sitting on a shelf or table in your home!

Making up blends are so much fun! So feel free to come up with your own diffuser blend. But, if you are stuck and can't think of any, I included some of my favorite recipes to get you started!

There are two ways you can make your own reed diffuser! With water, or with a carrier oil! I am going to show you how to make your reed diffuser both ways!

Method One: Using a Carrier Oil

What you'll need:

  • Reed Diffuser Bottle (Buy Here or Here or Here)

  • Reed Sticks (Buy Here or Here)

  • Essential Oils (I suggest Young Living)

  • Carrier Oil (Tip: You do not want to use a heavy oil like Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or Jojoba Oil, you want a very light oil so it can travel up the reed sticks)

  1. Fractionated Coconut Oil (Buy Here or Here)

  2. Sweet Almond Oil (Buy Here)

  3. Grapeseed Oil (Buy Here)

Directions:

1. Add 1/4 cup of your carrier oil to your diffuser

2. Add 25-40 drops of Essential Oil(s) to the carrier oil

3. Add 5-6 reed sticks

4. Mix the carrier oil and oils together with the sticks

5. Let the diffuser sit for an hour. After an hour, flip the sticks so the oils are able to travel up both ends of the sticks.

6. Every day, mix your diffuser with the sticks and/or flip the sticks to activate your oils and smell the aroma!

Method Two: Using Water
